BTS: A day in the workshop
A Day In The Workshop with Anna Scott
My role here at Wongs Jewellers is a Sales Executive! Within my role I help all of our customers with finding the perfect piece of jewellery, as well as guiding them through remodels, repairs, cleans and so much more! My favourite part of my role is getting to meet so many amazing people on different journeys throughout their life. Each individual person has a unique story to tell which is often represented through the sentimentality of their jewellery. Whilst being a sales executive on the Shop floor, I have loved experiencing what a different area of the business is like especially during my 'A Day In The Workshop' experience!
'A Day In The Workshop' is an opportunity for the whole team from across different departments of the business to create a piece of jewellery of their own to keep. This is a unique experience that is very helpful to gain a larger understanding of how jewellery can be made. With the guidance of Peter Wong and Ben Parry in the workshop, they have helped our whole team to make a piece of jewellery and understand the making process.
The first ring that I made, was made from the metal of a ring that I already had and was able to melt it down and remodel it into a design that I love. The beauty of the workshop is that it is a perfect way to transform old heirlooms into a unique and modern style. I created the ring into a twisted design which is a perfect 'everyday' ring that can be styled in many ways that I can mix and match with other rings for a trendy stacked look.
The day in the workshop really helped me to guide and advise my customers on purchasing jewellery, repairs & remodels etc as I am able to explain to my customers in further details the process of making a piece of jewellery.
Talking to my customers about this experience gives them a relaxing experience when purchasing a piece of jewellery as they know that I am able to talk to them about the knowledge that I have gained from the experience I had in the workshop!
Not only did I make a ring for the 'A Day In The Workshop' experience, I made a second ring a few months later for my level 3 fashion course at college. I absolutely loved creating my final major project at college all about jewellery. I shared about my experience in the Wongs workshop through an article of a magazine that I made during this project. This also featured fashion styling & photography. I loved showcasing the photos that I took and the magazine I made as it was amazing to see my work on display within an exhibition!I have recently handed my work in for my final major project and I am so excited to find out my final grade! I am so grateful that Wongs has given me the support and opportunity to use the workshop for my studies whilst continuing to build on my jewellery knowledge.
It has been a fabulous experience in the workshop and I can't wait to share the knowledge I have gained with my customers!
Keep your eyes peeled for the next BTS of the Wongs workshop experience!
